A finger's touch
Let the world decide
The worth of my love.
All I have now
Is just a finger's touch
The story is at A Finger's Touch
events, I perceive,
people, I observe.
myself, I scan.
from lost emotions, I weave new ones,
from lost ideas, I create new ones.
Let the world decide
The worth of my love.
All I have now
Is just a finger's touch
The story is at A Finger's Touch

Things I loved about this post
I loved the interpretation. It was ingenious. Its amazing how inspite of hearing these stories a billion times, its even possible to look at it from another angle. Brilliant!
My grouses:
I dont quite agree with Ram wedding Sita on duty. Ram and Sita fell in love the moment they set thier eyes on each other
"Annalum nokkinar
Avalum nokkinal"
says Kambar in his version. And Ram and Sita are destined to be together because of thier love for one another.
Vedas, Puranas define God(Read Vishnu) as one who is loved by Sree( Lakshmi ). Only the fact that he is loved by Sree defines Vishnu.
Again these are my beliefs based on evidence from scriptures.
Another was, it was very nice figuring it out that this was your interpretation of Sita being held hostage without having to explicity say that this resembles Ramayan. this a more personal one cause i liked figuring it out that this was Ramayan than being told so.
Whatever grouses I had, this has to be one of the best stories i read in the recent times, in terms of imagination and interpretation.
Loved it!

That is the best part of being a writer/thinker. The story can be interpreted to be anything (to be read as disfigured) as long as it pertains to the over all thread meant by the original author. I have removed the pseudo-religious fervor from the epic and have looked at it as simple man-woman-man story. Looking at it from that angle, I thought that love could not exist between Ram and Sita for one reason that Ram loved everyone and everything. Hence, it was not possible for him to love Sita more than everything else. However, Ravan had no such qualm. He could die in love for her and it would not matter.
In the end, good to know that you liked it.
Cheers

As an after thought, when Sita met Ram, he was probably the alpha male, strong, dark, and handsome. And having heard so much about his good nature, she would have fallen in love with him. However, post marriage, the usual marital friction would have developed and she might have noticed that she is not special at all, for everyone is equally special to Ram, for he is God. :)
I go back to my younger days when a movie in the name of Andhai Anandan hit the screens.
The story was centred around Oliver (Twist)
The review read like this
OLICERAI MIGAVUME TWIST SEITHIRUKKIRARKAL.
HERE RAMAYAN IS GETTING DISFIGURED & MUTILATED.
May be painter Hussain, Kalignar, K Veeramani &co will be very happy.
